It’s no secret that we’re big fans of the independently-owned shops that populate Portland, so it makes us incredibly happy when we get word of a freshly-opened one. Designer Amelia Blakeman has just debuted her boutique, Amelia, on NE Alberta, and it’s a perfect example of why we love these kinds of small businesses. By carefully curating a modest supply of unique items, the staff at Amelia can provide customers with the history and background of each piece, which lends to a truly personal shopping experience.
Amelia—which features clothing, jewelry, fragrances and home goods—is a balanced mix of vintage, modern and feminine, with a commitment to products made in the United States. The boutique is stocked with pieces from talented designers and artisans, including Acanthus, Carolyn Hart, Clair Vintage Inspired, ERS Creative, Hubris, Imaginary Authors, LAB by Laura Busony, Mint, MOSS Handmade, Munio Candela, SeaHag & Walrus and Amelia’s eponymous in-house line. The beauty of Amelia’s in-house line is the access to the direct source, with free on-site tailoring and the ability to see first-hand how garments are created.
To celebrate, Amelia is throwing a grand opening party on March 28th. Everyone is invited to check out the shop, have a drink and some snacks, and enter a raffle for prizes from a handful of the designers featured in the shop. We can’t wait to get our hands on some of the adorable clothes and accessories!
