You know we’re crazy for fashion over here at E+E, but we also love innovative events that leave us feeling inspired and energized. That’s why on Sunday we can’t wait to attend Content, a live design and fashion installation at the Ace Hotel Portland. 28 local designers will each take over a room on the second floor of the hotel, with free reign to manipulate the environment to best showcase their vision and aesthetic (last year, this meant a Thanksgiving dinner in one room and an all-night party scene in another).

The featured artists and designers this year are: Julia Barbee, Bridge & Burn, BtwnWind & Water, Moonwoods, Tanner Goods, Jayme Hansen/Hans Lindauer, Kate Fenker, Sara Bergman, Reif, Brady Lange, Sword + Fern, Portland Garment Factory, LiFT, PINO, Joshua Buck/Chicago Harper/Studio SKB, Made on the Moon, Draught Dry Goods, The Portland Collection, Honeyfox Jewelry, Bwana Spoons, Vanport Outfitters, Dawn Sharp, Ruki, Kate Towers, Demimonde, Poler, Carly Mick and The Good Flock.

After you’ve been sufficiently blown away by all of the creative hotel rooms, make sure to head over to The Cleaners for a pop-up shop stocked with goods from the designers (curated by Pamela Baker-Miller of Frances May).

And in case you needed another reason to attend this incredible event, for every Content ticket sold, the Ace Hotel will donate five dollars to New York Cares to aid recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

We chatted with an Ace Hotel spokesperson, to find out a little bit more about Content:

E+E: How did Content come about? What inspired the event?
Ace: Gretchen Jones originally concepted the idea with the help of her friends, Ada Mayer and Anna Korte, and approached Ace about collaborating. We all saw that Portland was packed with innovative designers and brands — nascent and well-established alike — and overflowing with great content for design, thus the name.

E+E: What can we expect to find at this event?
Ace: A live installation in the 28 rooms on the second story of Ace Hotel Portland, transformed through each designers’ point of view. It’s like a tour through their idiosyncratic and inspiring creative processes. This event is a not a runway show or a trade show; it is an opportunity to meet designers and experience who they are on every sensorial level. This is our third year in, and we’re more and more inspired each year to showcase all this local talent.

E+E: Tell us more about the pop-up shop at The Cleaners.
Ace: Only each year’s Content designers are featured in the pop-up shop; they’re invited to include pieces, but it’s not required. The in-room installations give attendees the opportunity to glimpse the inspiration behind these products, whereas the shop is more of a one-time amalgamation of their goods for sale in one place.

Trust us, you don’t want to miss this! Tickets are $15 in advance (purchased at the Ace Hotel) and $20 at the door.
