Walking in to Salt & Straw Ice Cream and seeing the new flavors unveiled each month always feels like Christmas morning to us. With flavors like “Candy Cap Mushroom with Port Red Wine” and “Chocolate with Honeycomb Toffee”, they’ve certainly outdone themselves this January. But the new flavor we’remost excited about is a tribute to the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley.
In honor of his birthday (January 8th), Salt & Straw is debuting the “Happy B-Day Elvis” flavor with a malted banana base, thick ribbons of marionberry jam from Oregon Hill Farms and thin ribbons of creamy peanut butter. And if that doesn’t sound like it’s artery-clogging enough, you can also get the “Fat Elvis Sundae”—the “Happy B-Day Elvis” ice cream on top of toasted Hawaiian sweet bread from An Xuyen Bakery, and loaded with in-house candied bacon. We’re pretty sure that if Elvis could come back from the dead, he’d head straight to Salt & Straw to eat about 12 of these sundaes.
And for those who believe in zombies, the King himself will actually be making an appearance at both locations of Salt & Straw on Tuesday, January 8th. He’ll be putting on a little performance and taking pictures with all of his adoring fans at the NE Alberta location from 7-8PM and the NW 23rd location from 8:30-9:30PM. So make sure to go and rock out while making Elvis proud with a delicious heart-stopping ice cream treat!
