E&E: Tell us about your experience shooting your first music video, Crazy is Beautiful. Was it a surreal experience? Or did it seem natural to you?
Nevaeh: I think it was wonderful. Definitely a surreal experience. I’m used to being in front of the camera but never been a part of such a big production. The clothes, hair and makeup.. it was all pretty dreamy.
E&E: What was your favorite thing you did in New York while on set?
Nevaeh: My favorite part of the day was Skype-ing with my friend Angelita while getting my hair and make up done. One of the guys that work with Konny would hold it up while I was on set so she could see what we were doing, that made me really happy. The swing was really cool, getting to wear designer clothes and eating pizza, so I guess the whole thing was my favorite part.
E&E: What do your friends, peers and teachers think about you shooting a music video in New York? Are they supportive?
Navaeh: My teacher and best friends were really excited for me and so many people at my school are fans of the song which felt really good.
E&E: What’s your favorite spot in Portland to hang out and find inspiration?
Navaeh: I don’t have a particular spot in Portland but I do love my backyard. My best broadway shows and dance routines come to life back there. But outside of my normal daily life, Jillian Rabe’s open mic’s inspire me. I really look forward to those. Everyone there is so talented and everyone is so supportive of each other.
