We got to slide through the Naked and Famous show where XYLO played before their set. Our new photographer, Kat, shoots everything in film and captured photos all on a 35mm.

Moonlight Tribe hosted a super fun Halloween Party on Saturday night. The Last Artful, Dodgr made a special performance and DJ Barisone and Mr. Wu kept the sound fresh. The location was announced a day before the party and we were really happy with the spot – a new bar in the Ankeny Alley called Tryst. It was huge, had a separate dance area and the tea ceremonies added a fresh spin on the party scene.

HW&W’s Reva DeVito premiered her music video DEEPER on EarMilk yesterday marking a big day for Portland’s creative scene. The music video – which tells the raw story of lost love in the face of fame, fortune & making it – was direct by Reva herself and filmed by Tiki Cofer. Watch closely, it features cameos by many of the top creatives in Portland. Haven’t yet listened to Reva’s recently released EP The Move? What the fuck are you waiting for?
We hadn’t heard of Moses Sumney when his voice struct us over the head the first time at the Roseland Theater. He played before James Blake and his style, sound & live performance was something totally unexpected. Channeling ancient roots, he loops his voice and makes beats with the mic while signing. It’s pretty wild to experience. By his raw talent, it was obvious Moses was a fit for the James Blake tour – James even mentioned during his set how much he enjoyed having Sumney on the road with them.
It’s a trademark rainy Portland night when EYES & EDGE sat down with RUSS backstage at the Roseland to catch up on his Yung God Tour. The future superstar carried the same swagger that he had at the Skype Studio hours earlier – shoutout to WE 96.3 for having us. Making our way down to the greenroom after watching a smooth soundcheck to prepare for the horde of sold-out fans, we had a brief interview session to see where he was at in his career.
E&E: We see you rocking the toothpick. What flavor? Russ: Tea tree mint. They are so great. As a kid I was always biting my nails and chewing gum. So, a toothpick is epic for me because I can chew on it and it tastes like tea tree mint! I love them so much we put them on my rider for this tour.
E&E: Do you have a sponsorship for the toothpicks yet? Russ: We’re working on it!
E&E: If not music, then what? Russ: NBA. 100% My jumpshot is top three in the country. READ MORE
