Portlanders love their beer. So much so, that there’s an entire week (technically, 11 days) dedicated to celebrating it. From June 6th to June 16th, the city will be flooded with beer-centric events and specials for the third annual PDX Beer Week. We’ve rounded up a list of the festivities to help you map out your week-long brew bender. (You’re welcome.)
Everything starts on June 6th at the Lucky Lab Beer Hall (1945 NW Quimby), with a kickoff party from 5-10PM. The event will feature nearly 20 different breweries, raffle prizes and more.
Head to EastBurn (1800 E Burnside) on June 7th for the second annual Rye Beer Fest, a celebration of the revival of rye beers. The event runs from 4-10PM, giving you plenty of time to sample the 19 featured rye beers, two of which (one by 10 Barrel Brewing Company and one by Hopworks Urban Brewery) were brewed as a special collaboration with Taplister. All proceeds from the sales of these two collaboration beers will benefit the Children’s Cancer Association, so make sure to drink plenty of them! The event boasts free entry, but rye beers, cocktails and food prices are yet to be determined.
Moving right along, the third annual Portland Fruit Beer Fest will commence on June 8th at NE Burnside and 7th. This two-day festival will feature over 40 beers from over 25 breweries that highlight the use of fresh fruit in the brewing process. Get ready for innovative pours like hoppy mango IPAs and sour cherry wheats. There will also be fruity ciders, non-alcoholic juices and food from the kitchen of Burnside Brewing. The minimum entry package is $20 (which buys you a glass and 12 tickets). The event runs from 11AM-9PM on the 8th and 11AM-6PM on the 9th. You can wait in line for tickets the day of, or buy them in advance right here.
The Beer Week festivities end on June 16th with the second annual Beer and Cheese Festival at the Commons Brewery (1810 SE 10th). This genius event—which runs from 1-5PM—features pairings of 10 beers from 10 local breweries with artisan cheeses, selected by World Champion Cheesemonger, Steve Jones of Cheese Bar. The $32 ticket will buy you a glass, a punch card to try all of the cheese and beer pairings, and complimentary light snacks from Chop Butchery and Charcuterie.
We only skimmed the surface of the events that will be happening throughout PDX Beer Week. For an extensive list, check out the Beer Week calendar. Happy drinking!
