Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado is one of the venues that musicians dream of playing. It is a hike to get to the top, but whether you are at the front or in the way back, you will feel the music just the same. This park and amphitheater overlook the city of Denver – looking beyond the stage onto the city lights is always a beautiful experience.
Day Wave is an Indie Rock band from Oakland, CA that kicked off the show and surprised everyone. It’s true that if you are opening for The Shins, you have to be good. Following Day Wave was Spoon, who sang songs ranging from semi-old classics, such as Underdog, to songs from their new album including Hot Thoughts. They were animated, energetic, and really pumped the crowd up for The Shins.
After much anticipation, The Shins came on stage and started off with a bang. They sang favorites from all their albums, and also treated the audience to several songs from their new album Heartworms. They sang slow songs, and upbeat ones, making sure to please everyone, and they did not disappoint. This band that formed in the year I was born captured my heart on this night, and I will love them forever.
