Our favorite French pop band came through Portland last night at the Wonder Ballroom. Yelle brought their A game and two encores, the best light show and a Portland crowd that was actually dancing! The three person band is comprised of two choreographed drummers and the main lady, Julie Budet. She brings some seriously amazing dance moves while the hunky, and probably gay drummers act as back up dancers. Mix in electronic pop, lazers and strobe lights and a hot French girl singing.. makes for a perfect show.
We looked up a few lyrics because we had no idea what they were saying all night. Safari Disco Club is one of our favorite jams and now we know what the F she is saying:
Can you see me flying away-away?
I see you down low, you’re sleeping, sleeping
Hold on tight, it’s great, great
What you can see from there, I promise you, I promise
The animals dance in the Safari Disco Club (4x)
I want to taste everything, taste everything, everything
To know the taste of sin, sin
Bite into your poisonous apple, apple
Or fall back into Helium apples, there we go
The animals dance in the Safari Disco Club
Having been off the grid for the Sasquatch Music Festival, this playlist is a day late. However, if I had posted this prior to the festival I would not have known what I know now. Black Joe Lewis, KONGOS, and the Flvr Blue are all worth listening to and did not make it on to the playlist originally. Also worth noting – Cudi still has it. One of the more fun shows on the main stage in my opinion.
Nothing even comes close to the show that Outkast put on. They hit all the songs I needed – ATLiens, Aquemini, Crumblin’ Erb, SpottieOttie, Two Dope Boys, International Players Anthem, and Hey Ya!. Sir Luscious Left Foot aka Big Boi brought the heat we have all come to expect from him and Three Stacks left me more impressed with him than I already was. Do not miss these two if they come to a city near you.
I could go one for hours about Outkast, and what happens at Sasquatch stays at Sasquatch. Get ready for some good summers jams.
