Keeping things casual, we got to lounge in the greenroom with Cherub before their show at the Crystal Ballroom last Friday. Pizza in hand, Jason and Jordan, the two behind the sound, talked strip clubs, other passions & even gave us some life advice.
The first thing we had to know: what would these two be doing if music wasn’t their main gig. Jordan (who sports the red hat) would be cooking food. He might not be a star chef right now, but that’s the only other thing he’s super passionate about. Food. He loves food. Any food that makes you happy when you eat it.
Jason, while enjoying some pizza, oddly didn’t choose food. He would still be doing something related to music, maybe on the business side of things, or studio side, but something in music. “It’s almost boring to say ‘if I wasn’t doing music, I’d be doing music’ but I feel like that’s what I’d be doing.”
Where would they play if they could perform at any unconventional venue? They both were pretty into the strip club idea. That has never been done. House parties are always fun, and they haven’t done one of those in awhile. But, a strip club would be tight. They would commit to that, and commitment is a thing for both of them.
Kevin Garrett’s name has been popping up a lot lately. First, it was as a producer and co-writer for Pray You Catch Me on Lemonade. Then it was his stellar performance at Sasquatch and after he made a stop in Portland to play another show at Holocene. We got to catch up with him via email while he was traveling from Sasquatch to Portland. Make sure to stay familiar with him because it’s all up from here.
